A California girl meets a Kiwi guy and what they share is a love of geology and wine. They met on Waiheke Island in New Zealand while Sam was there to complete a harvest abroad, they instantly connected and the rest was history. The two decided to embark on making their own wine in the fall of 2019 with the creation of Tectonic Wines. With over 20 years of winemaking experience and 3 degrees between them they thought that they would give it a go. The story of how each unique growing site contributes to each wine is what gave them the idea to connect their love of site to wine. What you'll experience in Tectonic Wines is the truth and honesty of the vintage and the skills of the winemakers. We hope to deliver you a unique and exciting experience in enjoying our wines.
A Native New Zealander (Kiwi) Tim has traveled extensively making wine around the world. From New Zealand to Australia, and Portugal to Argentina he has been lucky to work in some of the best wineries around the world. Tim has an appreciation for all things fermentation related. In his free time he enjoys brewing beer and distilling whisky.
Growing up in Northern California Sam was immersed in all things wine related but it wasn't until she attended Cal Poly that her love of viticulture was awakened. "I love working outside and being apart of the process in cultivating healthy vines to create amazing wine".
The official winedog of Tectonic wines. Milo rules the Mills' household, from going to work in the winery with Tim to scouting vineyards with Sam, Milo makes sure that all product is up to standard. He is a wild Australian Shepherd who loves all humans and dogs (especially if you give him a treat)
